Our mission is to protect the civil rights of low-income people in Pennsylvania.
The Community Justice Project is a non-profit, legal aid law firm that is part of Pennsylvania’s Legal Aid Network. With the help of legal services organizations and community groups, CJP challenges policies and practices that cause hardship to low-income people throughout the Commonwealth. We fight for improvements to public benefits, increased access to affordable housing, better pay for workers, and many other issues.
CJP specializes in class action litigation and innovative advocacy in local communities, state government, and the legislature. We can represent undocumented immigrants and litigate against the government. We also partner with regional legal aid programs on trial and appellate advocacy.
CJP typically limits its advocacy to broad-based issues affecting large numbers of people. If you are low-income and require assistance with an individual legal problem, please contact your local legal services program. CJP does not provide services in Philadelphia. If you live in Philadelphia and require services similar to those offered by CJP, please contact Community Legal Services.
